Slingback Navy Espadrilles by David Tate

Perfect for a casual summer party, this cute 2 inch espadrille comes in black, bone and white leather.  The close toe sandal is made with an incredible super soft lambskin.

Many are slide versions of this shoe, but others may feature ankle straps to keep the foot better secured.  Espradrille sandals with a burnished leather and strappy front are found in other stores.  And some are available in 4 canvas colors decorated with beads, sequins and ribbon ankle ties.  And some are built on jute 4″ platform wedges with rubber soles.

Women wear them on vacation with the back folded in so they become more like a flip flop, and some actually make them with the material that would ordinarily go around the heel folded in. We prefer an adjustable buckle with hidden elastic that is snug around your heel for a comfortable fit.

In Brazil they are named alpargatas, and they are rather comfortable, cheap and look summery.  Last year espadrille slides were seen everywhere, teamed with shorts cutting a bit above the knee or mid way up the thigh.
